Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs

If you’re like most PC users, you probably got Windows 7 with a new PC or laptop. And if you’re like 99% of the population, you get your new machines from one of the major manufacturers. Dell, Acer, HP, Toshiba, Lenovo; who all have one thing in common: they don’t give you a real Windows 7 installation disc with your purchase. Instead, they bundle what they call a “recovery disc” (that’s if you’re lucky – otherwise you’ll have a recovery partition instead) with your machine and leave it at that.

It doesn’t matter that you just paid a thousand dollars for a machine that comes with a valid Windows 7 license – your computer manufacturer just don’t want to spend the money (or perhaps take on the responsibility) of giving you a Windows 7 installation DVD to accompany your expensive purchase.

The problem is, with Windows 7, the installation media serves more than one purpose. It’s not just a way to get Windows installed, it’s also the only way of recovering a borked installation. The Windows 7 DVD has a complete “recovery center” that provides you with the option of recovering your system via automated recovery (searches for problems and attempts to fix them automatically), rolling-back to a system restore point, recovering a full PC backup, or accessing a command-line recovery console for advanced recovery purposes.

NeoSmart Technologies is hosting a copy of a Windows 7 Recovery Disc for your convenience. It’s a ~150 MiB download ready to burned directly to a CD or DVD. It contains an antivirus scanner, access to system restore, Windows backup, memory diagnostics, and command-line tools for advanced repair procedures. Please note that this download is no longer free, due to licensing restrictions imposed upon us.

What it does: The Windows 7 Recovery Disc can be used to access a system recovery menu, giving you options of using an antivirus, System Restore, Complete PC Backup, automated system repair, and a command-line prompt for manual advanced recovery.

What it doesn’t do: You cannot use the Windows 7 Recovery Disc to re-install Windows – it only fixes (not replaces!) Windows.

Why you need it: If you bought your PC from a major retailer, you didn’t get this CD with your hefty purchase.

  10. Hey,

You have no idea how much this has SAVED MY LIFE. I actually received my laptop today (Dell Inspiron N5010) and I decided to install Ubuntu on it. Unfortunately I didn’t want Ubuntu in the end and followed a guide on how to delete it from my system – but I didn’t know it deleted the boot loader.

AFTER 5 HOURS OF BROWSING, I came across this website, and within 2 minutes, everything got fixed! Back to normal, happy days.

  11. Hi,

  15. to all the people who expected to download an .iso file and have a.rar file instead, there´s no need to unzip , just use imgburn 2.5.5.0 and with the option ” write image file to disc ” browse to the .rar file you just downloaded and is going to recognise it as a image file. That´s all, you got a working recovery disc for W7.Bye.

  16. Hey mate, this works for me like a charm.. I’ve spend 3 hours to try the startup repair but you’ve save my ass with this awesome software. Love you man.. Thanks alot.

  19. Thanks so much for hosting these disks!!!
The best way to fix any Windows 7 problem is to wipe it off your hard drive and install Windows XP 64bit. LOL Unfortunately, my friend wants to keep it, so once again thanks for the recovery disks!!!!

  23. Uhmm I got a laptop and i cant put a cd in my laptop , but i got a virtual cd programe Can i do it white that ?

  24. AS I WAS BURNING THE VISTA RECOVERY DISK FOR A FRIEND, I GOT A LITTLE AHEAD OF MYSELF AND ACTUALLY SELECTED “OPEN” INSTEAD OF “SAVE”.
ONLY BECAUSE MY COMPUTER IS NOW, AND HAS BEEN EVER SINCE I REBOOTED AFTER THAT HAPPENED, ACTING STUPID. 1) the “wireless enable/disable” window does not fully appear. 2) my appearance of windows has reverted to “classic theme” etc.
I THOUGHT IT COULD BE CUZ VISTA WAS “OPENED” ON IT AND SO I’VE TRIED “OPENING” 7 BUT “NOT ENOUGH SPACE” ~~*any suggestions on this please help im going nuts having to be CONNECTED to something

  25. Thanks alot… you saved my life. My HP laptop was bundled with Vista but i upgraded to 7. The problem is I have Vista Recovery Disc but my internal DVD player already not working anymore. So i used external DVD player but sometimes it doesn’t work..

  26. I have windows 7 already installed and im just trying to figure out how to burn it onto a CD . Please help :)

  27. It worked! The torrent is a ISO file and you’ll need a disk burning software to build a disk from an ISO file. I used BurnAware.
I placed the disk in my DVD drive and rebooted.
Upon start-up the bios will hang for a short time asking if you want to boot from the CD DVD. Select this.

I backed up to a Blu-Ray disk and had this in the BD drive.
When repair asked for permission to rebuild select the BD disk drive and the repair disk software found the backup file.

I was more than happy to donate, Thanks Much!

  28. FYI for anyone attempting this, boot from your CD / DVD ROM after burning, you may think it is not going to start, it takes several minutes to load through the recovery process. It worked and got my system booted up, and without needing to reformat or lose any data! It’s amazing!!

    THANKS SO MUCH IT WORKED!

  29. I tried to recover my laptobby using that recovery discs. after disc n 1 and 2 was done system asked for recovery n 3, when i put cd, 3 there says important files couldn’ br found. Could you tell me please what was problem thre and what i should do?

  31. Big Thank You!! I screwed up my installation by accidentally making a data disk active.. and I couldnt boot. My install disc couldnt repair it automatically, so tried tons of things like bootrec this and that, diskpart this and that, even tried with ubcd but just couldnt get it right. Then I popped THIS in and in one automatic repair iteration it solved the problem. Awesome.

I would like to make a donation if you’re accepting them. Your paypal donation links are inactive.

  37. I used paragon backup 10 free version to create all win bootable cd and also i have build the win7 bootable thumdrive ! amazing isn’t it ?. Backup win7 system including MBR and save to any storage such as internal harddisk, thumbdrive, or any other external storage. We can restore our backup system from windows or from bootable cd/thumdrive. Thanks to paragon. So try it yourself. Good luck.

  38. Is there any information on when you will have the links back up? And is there any alternate links at all? Does Microsoft have this available, or do we have to wait until they get their heads out of their asses?

Really, WHAT copyright clarification!? Arrg! Just when I needed it the most too!!

  39. narmo, we are working on it. Microsoft asked us to take down the links while we work out a licensing agreement with them on behalf of our users. We hope to have good news shortly.

  40. Screw Microsoft. They make it so difficult to perform what should be easy tasks, and then prevent websites like this one from helping people where Microsoft has failed.

  41. its for obvious reasons, microsoft wants “power” and “authority”, also known as “dominance”, fucking selfish bitches, go die in a fucking hole…

  42. I bought a G 450 Laptop from US and warrenty has expired. today i pressed some key by mistake and Lenovo suddedly did not work and failed to start . cause it says may be software or harware change to fix insert your WINDOWS installation disc and restart your computer, which i do not have. I hve only Lenovo Recovery CD. when inserted it is showing no signs.

Now how to find out the Product. I went over the tool free no and spoke to service centre and they are asking to contact tool free no 18004252666. now I do not have the Windows 7 CD. i called service station they have asked me to check the warrently perooid and register. now how to go about.

I have only LENOVO RECOVERY DVD. i tried with that also but failed.

Can some onehelp me to recover my laptop. i am in chennai

  43. help , is this different from the recovery disk you can make by clicking start=program=maintenance=create system repair disk……….?

  44. Why the Microsoft always have COPYRIGHT and LICENSE issue…arghh..this is just the system repair discs and not the windows installation discs

  45. Is that possible for me to get back all the data, which I just formatted my C: drive?
If so, how to do it? I have tried using windows 7 repair disk, it shows “No OS was detected from your drive”. Please help !!! Thanks~

  46. Can you please let us know when the Windows 7 is available again?
No one will provide a recovery disk for me! (computer pre-installed, but they won’t supply an actual disk).

  47. This is definitely useful to know. My laptop nearly crashed and all I was doing was just installing and meddling with the printer settings. The OS is just so unstable at times, I think I better download this first just in case.

  48. And by licensing agreement they mean draw this out so that everyone will eventually forget about it.

  49. Hey guys can any one tell me from where to download this cuse i cant see a download link in there , or send me the link to where from you downloaded it , i will be very thankful ,thanks in advance . HELp
