Enhancement Request: Allow user to specify a custom MBR file instead of the default

Hey! It's a dirty, rotten job, but SOMEONE has to be first. . . . (I've tried starting something as the second or third, but it usually never works out that way :wtf: ) I'm the ONLY one who wants this? Seriously, I'm surprised. EasyBCD makes it so easy to set up multi-boot configurations...

Enhancement Request: Allow user to specify a custom MBR file instead of the default

Hopefully I have put this in the "write" place! Enhancement Request: When adding a 'nix entry to the BCD store, EasyBCD provides it's own psudo-loader. And, it is possible that this solution may work for a number of people out-of-box. In my own case, I prefer to use the OS supplied...

Wish-list entry: "Manually" edit the BCD Store from within EasyBCD

Mahamoud, Here's a thought: You could implement it as one of the "push button" extras that is on the last tab of your product. In essence it would become a totally separate app that provides just the "editor" function for the BCD store. This way you can have your cake and eat it too - ZERO...

Wish-list entry: "Manually" edit the BCD Store from within EasyBCD

Terry, That's almost true. However - my being contrary - I do things a little differently. . . . My usual boot setup goes like this: BCD (Windows) boot: 1. Boot Windows (7, etc.) 2. Boot Linux (Ubuntu, grub2, the whole nine yards.) Grub2 (Ubuntu/Linux) boot: 1. Boot Ubuntu or whatever...

Wish-list entry: "Manually" edit the BCD Store from within EasyBCD

Here's a real head-scratcher for you. Though it's not something that you would want to use every day, there are occasionally times when it would be PRETTY DARN CONVENIENT to be able to edit the listing you see in the "view" window. In my case, I very frequently install dual-boot configurations...

    The Introduction Thread

Mahmoud, I don't know if you remember me - from a while back! - (I was the guy who asked if you took PayPal to contribute!) EasyBCD is, and has been, one of those "And why didn't Microsoft think of this?" kind of things. Seriously, I'd love to see a distribution arrangement between you and M$...

Welcome in! You don't call the doctor for no good reason, do you. . . . 'Ole Doc Harris' prescription for dead Dell computers is often a double-barrel 12-gague shotgun at 30 paces. . . . ( :grin!: ) One thing you can do right away is open the thing and look at the motherboard - look at the...

qiplayer, Don't feel so bad about learning "the hard way" In many ways that's the only way to really stay abrest of the latest-and-greatest stuff. Even Einstein (I think?) said "I've learned more from my mistakes than I ever did from my successes." If mistakes are good enough for Einstein...

How to make a windows 7 or Windows Vista USB Recovery Stick (thumb drive)

OK, Guru - put your loader where your mouth is! :p I've heard you say this numerous times but I'll be damned if I can find it, or how to do it, or whatever. . . . Documentation on how to accomplish this feat of magic seems to be woefully lacking. And here I am in front of my computer, with a...

    Updates for EasyBCD

Ref: Blog entries at http://neosmart.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6389 I am going to propose some changes in the 2.0.2 EasyBCD. BUG: When you select BCD Backup/Repair --> Change Boot Drive, the drive shown is always the "C:" drive even if that is not the current location for the system store...

    New EasyBCD option?

You'd be amazed at the number of people who have not migrated to Vista/7 yet. And for good reason - if they don't have a 16 core i300 or the latest AMD "HolyS**T!-987654" processor, performance is kind-a REALLY lame. IMOHO - I personally think Vista harfs donkey-doo. 7, by comparison is...

Ubuntu upgrade broke dual boot with Vista

I've run into the same problem and I usually fix it by using "dd" to make a copy of the MBR before the update happens, and then use "dd" again to replace it after the updates are done, but before I reboot the box. I'm tempted to describe how to do it, but dd is one of those "44-Magnum" commands...
