Cannot limit CPU in Server 2008 64bit SP2

For licensing reasons, I'm trying to limit the number of CPUs (cores) to 4. We currently have two Quad-Core procs and I only want one running (4 cores).

I set the "Limit Windows to ___ CPUs" to four, but when I reboot, I still see 8 cores active.

Any ideas as to why this is?

Hello jeon43, welcome to NST

Run it in a VM instead if you need to limit the cores. Its ovb. not respecting your settings. To troubleshoot it though, have you opended up EasyBCD again to double check what its set to under "Advanced Options"? Make sure you've selected the right entry and when its on the amount of cores you want server 08 to use hit "Apply Settings"
