HELP!!!!pc won't do anything other than turn on !!

hello,all im so frustrated right now bloody laptop is buggered and i miss it so much!!!
i think we have formatted it as we couldnt do the system recovery to factory setting thing so now i dont know where to go form there,my back up files are on my externel hard drive as it wouldnt let me put them on discs !!!any ideas what i need to do??its a hp laptop running on vista business!

HP should have given you some recovery discs but if not you'll need to contact them.
