Default Vista 64 Recovery - Blinking Cursor

I'm trying to recover from the BitDefender trojan.fakealert.5. My Vista 64 box won't boot from the HD, so I'm trying to boot from the recovery disk. I downloaded exactly per instructions via uTorrent and img, I've changed the boot priority to boot the CDROM first, but when I boot with the recovery disk it completes the bios and ends with a blinking cursor and black screen. If I try a cold reboot, I can hear the CDROM self test, then spin as the bios runs, but then once the blinking cursor starts, the CDROM spins down - doesn't sound like it's reading at all.

    Help?
