I am an ignorant newbie, so please lead me along.
cannot boot into windows vista 32
I believe the cause is a result of putting my PC to 'sleep' and then the power cord got unplugged. The PC when powered on appears to load windows Vista, but then when it gets to the normal blue screen, there is no ICON to actually log on. After running some diag tests, I can see that the a test called 'boot path' fails. I tried to start computer in safe mode, but it only shows the safe mode screen, and I can't do anything from there. Also tried safe mode with a prompt....but no prompt ever appears.

Hi Jess,

Boot from our recovery disc > repair computer. Theres a few different things you can try:

Open a command prompt and run chkdsk until it can't find any errors:
chkdsk c: /r

If its still not working, try sfc:
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows\

Use system restore and select a restore point before this happened.

Had the same problem had to go to my previous OS but thanks to kairozorro I'll try your advice.
