Garfield, in this thread has come across a situation where the boot.ini located by EasyBCD, follows the pointer in the BCD XP entry (even when it's wrong).
Shouldn't it locate the "system" partition itself ?
As it stands, it's only a help in editing the boot.ini if you've made no other mistakes, i.e if you already know where the correct version is.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I failed to spot the problem in a timely fashion, and that, while using Easy in this way can actually be a diagnostic aid to finding an error in the BCD, if the design actually follows a pointer erroneously altered by the user, I'd better remove the assertion in the sticky that it'll always find the right one for you.

Oops.. I too thought it did :S

That had been a functionality I'd been planning from a while back, I always assumed I had fixed it......
