EasyRE does not boot on my Acer laptop (Vista)

I purchased EasyRE today to resolve a startup failure on my Acer laptop running Vista. Despite correctly imaging the CD and setting the boot order correctly, the DVD drive spins but results in a blank screen before finally spinning down. I do not get any UI. Using the same disk in my Sony Vaio, the Linux system loads correctly and makes the tools available. Any ideas welcome!
