The dual boot screen works.
After I choose XP I get the logon, enter the password, hit enter and I am immediately logged off.
My configuration is as below:

1. How do I fix this?
2. If I have to get into the XP registry in the XP partition from the (working) Windows 7 partition, how do I do this.
3. If all else fail how do I remove all trace of what I did with the boot loader?

The fact that you are calling NST\EasyLDR and not NTLDR indicates that you are manually entering XP information and calling the Neosmart Loader, which is designed to give a neat solution to booting multiple XP systems.
You don't need it for a single XP.
Delete the XP entry from EasyBCD and then add it again, letting EasyBCD auto-configure.
It will find XP and chain it for you.
Don't change the entry it creates.
If you think it made a mistake - It didn't.
