Like the boot editor that CG has made for the vista boot loader, as i use XP, and have meny copys of XP and 2k installed on my test machine, and from week to week, i change the OS im using, so for me this is a good tool,

But a XP version of your Vista boot loader editor? a very simple one, not to add or remove OS's but just to change the boot options, IE the default OS and timeout.

I have already made it, got it running on my test machine, running nicely, i have thrown everything at it, it likes it all, never crashed yet, can tell the diffrence between partitions, raid drives, SCSI drives. And re-write the boot.ini file as it should.

If this will be accepted as a valid application for devolpment than i will add the options to add remove OS's from the boot menu, and add items like the /nogui and /fastdetect and all that stuff.

I am willing to maintain this project, i have already put crash captures in incase anything does go wrong, the only time it will crash is when the BOOT.ini file can't be found, or is damaged. In anycase, this app creates a backup of the boot.ini file the first time it starts so there is a backup for you.

Also you can't select [operating systems] as a default OS, it won't save the boot loader, simple as.

What do you all think?
I would like feedback, im just installed install sheild now so i can play with the setup

Based on EasyBCD's documentation, I know EasyBCD well install on other versions of Windows and edit startup entries for you. But does EasyBCD allow you to edit startup entries after you have uninstalled the Vista Bootloader from the MBR? If not, perhaps the next version could include support for working with boot.ini in legacy Windows. This way, editing for the novice is easier no mater which versions of Windows thier using.

EasyBCD doesn't allow for editing entries without the Vista bootloader installed to the MBR.

We forsee more people using Vista's newer bootloader in the future - not less - so it doesn't really make sense to expand in that direction if you get what I mean.
