Microsoft Internet Explorer Import & Export Guide
Getting Started
This will show you how to import your bookmarks with Microsoft Internet Explorer. So lets get started.
The Process of Importing Favorites
Open Internet Explorer (To be labeled IE from here on out). Now the process will vary depending on the setup you use. Some people like myself do not have the Menu Bar showing so every time you have to access the File Menu you must hit Alt + F to bring it up. For the rest the process will be easy as it is just a click on the word File. With that out of the way lets get going.
After IE is open Click File and then select Import and Export.
It will bring up the Import and Export Wizard that IE uses.
From here click Next. This will bring you to our selection menu. This is where you choose to Import or Export your Favorites as IE calls them. Also known as Bookmarks in the other browsers used. First will be the Import favorites. So select Import Favorites.
Now this will bring up the next screen in the wizard. This screen will allow you to Browse your PC to select the appropriate file.
So click the Browse button and continue.
At first it bring you up to your Documents (My Documents in Windows XP) folder for the Profile which you are currently using.
As you see the file is not located there so browse through your PC to find the appropriate file. It should be in a place where you know where it is located.
Now just select the HTML file and click Open. IT will take you back to the part of the Wizard where you are able to browse for the file. Now you will see the Next Button available to click. Click on that and you will see the
Click Next. This will bring up the Finish Import/Export Wizard Window. Click Finish to complete the process.
Finishing Up
Congratulations. You have successfully imported your favorites into Internet Explorer.
