{"id":392,"date":"2007-03-14T16:40:43","date_gmt":"2007-03-14T16:40:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/neosmart.net\/blog\/2007\/windows-xp-x64-service-pack-2-released\/"},"modified":"2013-08-26T18:15:16","modified_gmt":"2013-08-26T23:15:16","slug":"windows-xp-x64-service-pack-2-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neosmart.net\/blog\/windows-xp-x64-service-pack-2-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows XP x64 Service Pack 2 Released!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/technet\/windowsserver\/sp2.mspx\" rel=\"follow\">has just released<\/a> Windows XP x64 Edition SP2, currently available for all architectures (x86, x64, &amp; Itanium) in English and German.\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/914962\" rel=\"follow\">New features and bug fixes<\/a> <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windowsserver\/default.aspx\" rel=\"follow\">Security updates<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><del>Before installing Windows XP x64 Service Pack 2, you must first ensure that you uninstall Internet Explorer 7 before installing the update, or else Internet Explorer will fail to work, since SP2 will reinstall IE6 for you.<\/del>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Download Links:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=17791\" rel=\"follow\">Service Pack 2 for Windows XP x64 Edition<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Integrating the Service Pack<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>You can slipstream SP2 into your Windows&nbsp;XP x64 Edition&nbsp;CD by copying the contents of your CD to a folder on your hard-drive, and issuing the following command:\n<\/p>\n<p><code>WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe \/integrate:C:\\XP64\\<\/code><\/p>\n<p>In the example above, this is the x86 installer being used and the Windows XP x64 CD has been copied to C:\\XP64\\\n<\/p>\n<p>After the process completes, download <a href=\"http:\/\/neosmart.net\/downloads\/miscellania\/Microsoft%20Corporation.img\" rel=\"follow\">Microsoft Corporation.img<\/a>&nbsp;and use it as the bootsector for your CD.\n<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re using Nero, it&#8217;ll look something like this:\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Choose <strong>CD-ROM (Boot)<\/strong> from the New Compilation&#8217;s Boot page. <\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Source of boot image data<\/strong> choose &#8220;<strong>Image file<\/strong>&#8221; and Browse to the <strong>Microsoft Corporation.img<\/strong>. <\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Enable expert settings (for advanced users only)<\/strong> and set the following: Kind of emulation &#8211; <strong>No Emulation<\/strong><br \/>\n  <br \/>Number of loaded sectors &#8211; <strong>4<\/strong><br \/>\n  <br \/>Load segment of sectors &#8211; <strong>07C0<\/strong> <\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>NEW<\/strong>. <\/li>\n<li>File Browser area, navigate to <strong>c:\\xp<\/strong>.
