    rc.local (linux-kubuntu)

The path is /etc/init.d/rc.local. I want the system to do "synclient MaxTapTime=0" at login or startup, that's all.

    rc.local (linux-kubuntu)

How would I go about adding commands to the rc.local file? The command I want to add is "synclient MaxTapTime=0", which disables tapping on the laptop's touchpad. Here's what the file currently looks like... #! /bin/sh PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin [ -f /etc/default/rcS ] && ...

    OEM partition

Even if I delete the Vista partition before using the disc? I just want to be completely sure of everything before I go ahead with this.

    OEM partition

I've burnt a disc using the OEM partition, but I'm still not sure as to how it's going to go about restoring my laptop to its original state. Is it basically a Vista install disc with all the necessary drivers for my laptop integrated into it? I haven't done anything yet, by the way. I'm just...

    OEM partition

I have a 10 GB OEM partition on my Acer laptop, and I was what else it does besides let the user recover the system in case they haven't got a recovery disc handy. Could I use it to reinstall Vista as well? Also, does it have the laptop's drivers and/or other hardware information stored there?

Having trouble dual booting XP and Vista

I was worried about a conflict like that happening. I guess I'll go with HnS on this one. Thanks again.

Having trouble dual booting XP and Vista

I'm pretty sure it comes after the two. The first 112 GB partition with Vista has an offset at 10 GB, while the second 56 GB partition with XP has an offset at 121 GB. If I create the third partition, it definitely isn't going to come between those two since they're right next to each other...

Having trouble dual booting XP and Vista

I tried doing a repair install first, but for some reason, XP setup can't detect the previous installation (or any of my primary partitions) unless I delete my third primary partition. After that was done, I booted between Vista and XP just to make sure everything was going fine, and then...

Having trouble dual booting XP and Vista

My laptop came with Vista pre-installed, so I had to install XP afterwards on a seperate partition. Also, XP was running perfectly right after the installation.

Having trouble dual booting XP and Vista

It's working now, but I keep getting the blue screen a couple of seconds into the Win XP startup. What's the best course of action now? Thanks for getting me this far, by the way.

Having trouble dual booting XP and Vista

Hi, I was having trouble installing XP because the setup wouldn't see the partition that I had set up for it. Eventually I had to delete that partition and let XP create its own which turned out to be only 6 GB in size. I decided to go ahead and install anyway, and then later booted back into...
