Replacing Vista with Windows 7 in Multi Boot

No Offense Terry, I appreciate your help, I just ran out of good. Anyway, after doing the above steps, I was able to boot into one of the XP images through Vista Hide N Seek. The problem is, no matter which XP type I choose, it would only boot into the same one. Even worse, choosing Win 7...

Replacing Vista with Windows 7 in Multi Boot

Just wondering on how to do the delete and rename. Win 7 says those files are in the custody of trustedinstaller and won't let me do anything. Ah, silly me. I had to take ownership, then give myself full rights.

Replacing Vista with Windows 7 in Multi Boot

Well, this turned into a project. I did a clean install and things seemed ok. I was booting into Win7 no problem. I may have deviated from the plan though. I ran Easy BCD and my two XP OS's showed. I was then installed Vista Hide N Seek. I was able to boot into either XP OS fine, but it would...

Replacing Vista with Windows 7 in Multi Boot

I don't believe I can upgrade from Vista. I purchased the Windows 7 Ultimate Retail Disk, which I believe is full install only. I do prefer a clean install anyway. The concern I have is the other two OS's. I ran Easy BCD to manage the boot of the images. I imagine after installing Win7 I need to...

Replacing Vista with Windows 7 in Multi Boot

Hello, first of all, you guys rock. I have had more fun playing with multi boot and really appreciate your guidance. My traditional problem is I jump into something, muck it up, read half the instructions, muck it up again, start over, muck it up, then read all the instructions. For this...

    Dual Boot XP and Win7

And the problems continue. I finally got a chance to re-install everything. After unhiding XP, then running Easy BCD and enabling XP, I have the following problem. When selecting the XP option, my screen will go blank then the machine reboots. I have a hunch NTLDR or something is wonked. Any...

    Dual Boot XP and Win7

Rats, I just bricked this thing. Instead of doing the registry trick in XP, I went into Win7 and ran Vista Hide N Seek. That was the last time the machine booted. I have tried various things including the: bootrec.exe /fixmbr x:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 all /force Then ask it (nicely!) to try and...

    Dual Boot XP and Win7

Thanks for the help. My mistake was running 1.7 BCD. Everything is working now, I still need to do the registry hack but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. For clarification, should the XP partition be set as active too, or only the Win7? I also want to throw a share partition for...

    Dual Boot XP and Win7

Thank you for the help. So far, two steps forward, and one step back, one to the side. Everything went well, until I booted into XP. I then got a NTLDR missing error and it would prompt a reboot. So, I fiddled around and now lost Win 7. Guess I will start over, rinse and repete.

    Dual Boot XP and Win7

I know I am smarter than this, but all the fiddling in the world has not worked and I humbly surrender to you for help. My main goal is to have Windows 7 and XP in dual boot. I also want both to load as C:. After much fiddling, and dozens of reloads and hours of reading, I give up. I can...

How I was able to triple Boot with existing Vista install

Sorry long post but I hope somene can benefit from it. My triple boot project. I am starting with a former dual boot machine running XP 64 and Vista 64. Originally, when I set up this system, I loaded XP64 first, then loaded Vista. This allowed both OS's to land on C: during their install. One...
