    Deleting Win7 steps?

Attached is a screen shot of the partition layout. I have XP, Win7 #1, Win7 #2 followed by some logical partitions. What I want to do is to delete the Win7 #2 partition. I am currently using HnS and was wondering what the best steps are to follow for deleting this partition and adding some of...

Hide N Seek preferred for XP/Win7 booting?

Wanted to check that Hide 'N Seek is still the preferred method of hiding restore points from Win7/Vista from XP so that they are not deleted by XP.

Test problems prior to new controller

I got the computer mentioned in question 1 running late last night. I recopied the XP partition from the main hard drive over to the test hard drive I was using then removed the main hard drive and the test drive containing Windows7 and XP both booted. Only thing I can think of is that XP I had...

Test problems prior to new controller

I have two separate questions here regarding adding a new controller: 1) Looking at installing a separate SATAII controller in a couple of boxes here which currently only have SATA1 controller on board. For a test I copied the two primary partitions from my main hard drive on one of these...

Screwed up Win7 x64 and XP Pro dual boot

Got the system booting up with EasyBCD. HnS is not currently installed. There are some .HnS files on the hard drive. Should these be deleted before HnS is reinstalled?

Screwed up Win7 x64 and XP Pro dual boot

I had a working Win7 /XP install and installed a separate Sata controller to give me SATA2 support on the old box. I then copied the two primary partitions Win7 C: and XP Pro W: over to a spare sata hard drive connected to the new controller. I screwed something up as now I can not get the...

Triple boot no longer works.. only XP does

I understand. So I could move the Win7 towards the XP at the beginning of the drive far enough so that part of the 40 GB free space, currently before Win7 partition will wind up after Win7. Then I can expand the end of the Win7 partition into the free space to the right of it and this will not...

Triple boot no longer works.. only XP does

I have several partition managers I just do not want to wind up with an unbootable Win7 partition. Terry60 indicated the following previously: "The BCD describes exactly where the OS is, HDD and offset. Move it and the boot is broken.' I took that to mean that if I move the beginning of the...

Triple boot no longer works.. only XP does

Disk Management will not work since the existing empty space is to the left of the Win7 partition and there for unusable via the expand command in DManagement.

Triple boot no longer works.. only XP does

Won't that cause boot problems with Win7 per Terry's comment earlier in this thread "The BCD describes exactly where the OS is, HDD and offset. Move it and the boot is broken."

Triple boot no longer works.. only XP does

Attached is a screenshot of the current drive layout. The Win7 partition is running a bit low on space and I would like to enlarge it by doing one of two things. Add some of the free space before the Win7 partition on to it OR moving some of the free space further down the drive up to the end of...

    Hide 'N Seek stuck

Did all the above and HnS is doing exactly the same thing it was doing on Sunday. It is in step 5 (Upgrading bootsectors to Vista format) and it has been 10 mins and the top progress bar is stuck at 3/4 done. Also like on Sunday the read stop button on the UI does nothing. Update: Was able to...

    Hide 'N Seek stuck

Only off Win7 Windows XP was the first OS installed on this system a couple years ago. I remember at one point using EasyBCD on that parttition when I only had Vista and XP before Windows7 appeared. I then went to using Hide N Seek installed on Vista to boot between it and XP. When Win7...

    Hide 'N Seek stuck

When I deleted the files, I first copied them over to another directory on the Win7 partition. It appears that there are a variety of file dates for these files (see WinOldFiles.gif). The Bootmgr file is 185KB the Bootmgr.hns is 375KB (not 185k as I previously stated). The bootmgr file at the...

    Hide 'N Seek stuck

The old Bootmgr.hns from the non functioning HnS is 185KB. I had forgot to copy the files over before removing Vista primary partition so the system would not boot properly. I then got it working properly with EasyBCD with XP and Win7. I then setup HnS again in Win7 and tried to reboot to test...

    Hide 'N Seek stuck

I am using EasyBCD beta 2 only to allow booting between XP and Win7 I had to delete it because Windows7 was unable to boot at all when I installed H n S and rebooted to test it out. Since HnS was installed in Win7 which was dead I had to fix the problem via other means which I eventually did.
