Thanks for the advice. I also noticed that the Trojan was on my G drive partition which is my Vista, but it's affecting my Xp.Any thoughts on that?

Sorry, don't have any personal experience with it (thanks be !), but it sounds like it's propogated itself to every system it can see.
From what I remember, it takes over your browser and IE is what XP uses for Windows Update.
If the advice on the last site doesn't help remove it, I don't know what else to suggest.
Do you have access to the net on an uninfected PC, or are you using the dodgy system now ?
Does it allow you to search for solutions, or is that part of the problem ?
If it's actively preventing you from searching for a fix, post back and someone here can do a few web searches for you, otherwise all I can suggest is a trawl around the net looking for malware removal sites.

You need to get a decent antivirus solution installed on all your Windows machines.

I don't recommend anything other than the latest versions of NOD32 or Kaspersky.

For stubborn infections that nothing seems to budge try using an application called "Hijackthis" and posting its log on one of the forums below. They will check it and help you get rid of whatever ails your machine.

Do not post the log here, we can't help!

DOWNLOAD HIJACKTHIS

Post the logs at a specialist Forum:

I decided to use my recovery disc's and start over. Will this erase any & all nasties? It seems to be working so far.I do have a lot of script errors and a few minor glitches. I am running Defender Pro with Anti-Spyware.I'm learning more with more with each mistake. Thanks for all the help you guys always provide.

Assuming that you intend to format and reinstall then yes, it will, hopefully, rid you of all nasties.

Peter i have to agree with you. Geeks To Go is a great forum. I am considering going thru their training program myself. :grinning:
