Installed win 7 on an xp dual boot...cant detect xp

I have 2 hds C and D. Each drive had an XP os on it and was dual booting.

I forgot vista and 7 ran off a different platform than the boot.ini and didn't back it up

installed win 7 on the c drive, reformatting it in the process.

Win 7 boots, xp on HD D: doesn't show.

I tried to add a boot.ini to D: and the ntldr and ntdetect available from your wiki section.
Now when it boots I see
Windows 7
Microsoft Windows *or something like that....didnt write it down*

attempting to use the second option has an ntldr error "missing or corrupt"

How should I properly fix this?

Thanks in advance!
