    Hi Dru,

I'll be more than happy to test this for you, but just so we're on the same page here - PC-BSD *can* install its bootloader to the bootsector of a partition instead of the MBR, correct?

    Hello,

I also tried to install it with GTP enabled but no sucess.
    I saw 5 partitions.
the first one did reboot the system
When I choose the others the only thing I saw was a blinking cursor.

Correct. As long as you dont select to install the mbr loader, the partition is bootable.

OK, I'll download a 9.0 snapshot now and test in a dual-boot environment with Windows 7.

    Cheers.

I'll try multiple configurations. If it doesn't work on a single disk, it won't work on two, but the opposite might.

Dru, I can't install it on the same disk. I have 11GB free space, when I try to create a new partition of any size I'm told

"Slice creation failed with the following message" and no message is shown.

...and is the "Install Bootloader" checkbox at the bottom for the MBR or the bootsector? I'm assuming MBR, while the bootsector will automatically and always be installed?

What version of PC-BSD are you installing? If 9.0, there was a problem in the June snapshot which has been fixed for ftp://ftp.pcbsd.org/pub/snapshots/9-CURRENT-20110701/.

Yeah, it was nightly snapshot from the 9.0 branch. I'll DL again and give it a try.

    Addendum:

Dru, I'm getting the same thing with the July 1st snapshot.
Any idea how I can enable logging?

Instructions for accessing the installation log are here: Installation Troubleshooting - PC-BSD Wiki. Please send the log to the testing mailing list (http://lists.pcbsd.org/mailman/listinfo/testing) and/or pop into #pcbsd on Freenode to discuss.
