Can I trust the key provided by : Windows OEM Product Key Tool.

I just tried the Windows OEM Product Key Tool, on a PC that has a valid sticker, and the keys differ.
Can I trust that the software will return the correct activation key, if I try to rebuild a PC, where I have lost the sticker?
