WinXP dual boot with Win10

Hello all - I'm trying to resurrect an old but usable scanner that was not given new drivers when Win 7 was installed. I'm currently running Win10 and the WinXP install will be done on a separate SATA hard drive. I'll use EasyBCD to create the dual boot functionality. I can get the WinXP CD to recognize and install to the SATA hard drive if I change it's mode to IDE. My question is will there be any harm in doing this and changing the mode of the drive back to SATA once XP is installed and dual boot accomplished via EasyBCD? Other than the speed change, I wouldn't think there would be any damage proceeding in this manner, but I thought I'd ask before I hosed my system. Thanks, Jim

Thanks for the quick reply Terry. I tried to slipstream the ahci driver but it didn't work. There was also a stora.inf file. I'm wondering if that is the file I should have used. Now I'm exploring how to add the appropriate driver after XP has been installed. Thanks again.
