recimg.exe<\/strong> is an extremely useful tool. It provides an user with the ability to create a recovery disk of his current Windows setup, so if a problem occurs, there is no need to reinstall the operating system. The user can refresh his Windows machine to the state saved in recovery disk image. The tool works on Windows 8.<\/p>\n

Description<\/span><\/h2>\n
The recimg<\/strong> utility will generate a system image that the user can restore into at any time desired. The image will contain all the system settings as well as all of the software installed by the user. It will not save personal files i.e. documents, photos, music.\u00a0The user can save the image on an external drive or on the system partition. Refresh<\/strong> utility is the one that is responsible for restoring the system using the images generated by the recimg<\/strong> utility. The user must have administrator privileges to user the utility.<\/p>\n

\/createimage<\/strong><\/code>
\nCreates a new recovery image and sets it as an active recovery image. The active recovery image is a\u00a0image that system will refresh to if the refresh<\/strong> utility is used. The path of the image is specified by the filePath<\/strong><\/code>.<\/p>\n
\/setcurrent<\/strong><\/code>
\nSets the image specified by the filePath<\/strong><\/code> to be the active recovery image. The active recovery image is a\u00a0image that system will refresh to if the refresh<\/strong> utility is used.<\/p>\n
\/deregister<\/strong><\/code>
\nDeregisters i.e. removes the current active recovery image from being the active one. If the user’s computer has a factory image that is the image that will become the active recovery image.<\/p>\n
\/showcurrent<\/strong><\/code>
\nDisplays the filePath<\/strong><\/code> of the current active recovery image.<\/p>\n
Exit Status<\/span><\/h2>\n
The recimg <\/strong>utility\u00a0returns 0<\/strong> on succes and 1<\/strong> if an error occurs.<\/p>\n

To create a recovery image in the Recovery folder that is on the D: volume of the hard disk:<\/p>\n

To set the image labeled MyImage.wim from the Images folder on C: volume:<\/p>\n
recimg \/setcurrent c:\\Images\\MyImage.wim<\/code><\/strong><\/p>\n
To deregister the\u00a0image labeled MyImage.wim from the Images folder on C: volume as the active recovery image:<\/p>\n
