BCDEdit works similarly to Bootcfg.exe available on Windows XP systems, but with more options available and various improvements.<\/p>\n<h2>BCDEdit on Windows<\/h2>\n<p class=\"warning\">You must be logged-in as an Administrator in order to use BCDEdit.<\/p>\n<p>Always create a backup of your current BCD file before using the utility with the help of the <code>\/export<\/code> parameter:<\/p>\n<pre>bcdedit \/export C:\\exportBCDfile<\/pre>\n<p><strong>To open bcdedit, you need to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Command Prompt<\/li>\n<li>Type:\n<pre>bcdedit<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Press <kbd>Enter<\/kbd><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>When you type <code>bcdedit<\/code> in Command Prompt, the output is your computer&#8217;s current BCD configuration:<\/p>\n<pre>Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0] \r\n Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation.
