Try to update it to the latest available version.<\/p>\n<p>To run <code>msconfig<\/code>, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Boot into your system<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Start<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Run<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Type:\n<pre>msconfig<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Press <kbd>Enter<\/kbd> or click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Go to the Startup or <strong>Services<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n<li>Disable all services listed in this tab<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Restart<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If your computer still boots slowly, go to <a href=\"#Fix_2_Disable_startup_applications\">Fix #2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Fix #3: Delete temporary files<\/h3>\n<p class=\"info\">For more information how to delete temporary files, <a href=\"https:\/\/neosmart.net\/wiki\/delete-temporary-files-folders\/\">read this guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Large volumes of temporary files (stored in the specific <code>%temp%<\/code> folder on Windows) may slow down your computer, including the booting process.<\/p>\n<p>To delete the temporary files on your computer, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start your computer<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Start<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Run<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Type:\n<pre>%temp%<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Press <kbd>Enter<\/kbd> or click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Folder Options<\/strong> (Tools &gt; Folder Options for Windows XP; Organize or Tools &gt; Folder Options for Windows Vista or 7)<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>View<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>At the <em>Hidden files and folders<\/em> section, check the <strong>Show hidden files, folders, or drive<\/strong> checkbox<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select all files and folders from the Temporary folder<\/li>\n<li>Right-click and click <strong>Delete<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Yes<\/strong> to confirm the deletion of these files and folders<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not able to boot into Windows to delete the temporary files, use Automated Repair from <a href=\"https:\/\/neosmart.net\/EasyRE\/\">Easy Recovery Essentials<\/a> (our recovery and repair disc). Besides find and fixing boot errors automatically, it can delete temporary files automatically.<\/p>\n<h3>Fix #4: Defragment HDD<\/h3>\n<p>Having a fragmented hard-disk might slow your computer and how it boots.<\/p>\n<p>Using the Disk Defragmenter utility from Windows, you can rearrange the fragmentation of your hard-disk to make it run more efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>To defragment your hard-disk, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start your computer and boot into Windows<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Start<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Search for <strong>Disk Defragmenter<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>At the <em>Current Status<\/em> section, select the disk you want to defragment. If the slow boot is caused by a boot error, Startup Repair will attempt to fix the error.<\/p>\n<p>The Startup Repair utility is available only on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems.
