If you recently installed a new version of Windows next to a previous one, your computer will now show a dual-boot menu<\/strong> in the Windows Boot Manager screen from where you can choose which Windows versions to boot into: the new version or the earlier version.<\/p>\n

In this article, learn how to remove the dual-boot menu for the following Windows versions: XP, Vista, 7,\u00a08, 8.1 <\/strong>and\u00a010<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fix #1: Open msconfig<\/h2>\n

Using the msconfig utility tool allows you to select which version of Windows you’d like to boot directly into when you restart your computer.<\/p>\n

Follow these steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Click Start<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Type msconfig<\/code> in the search box or open Run<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Go to Boot<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Select which Windows version you’d like to boot into directly<\/li>\n
  5. Press Set as Default<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. You can delete the earlier version by selecting it and then clicking Delete<\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. Click Apply<\/strong><\/li>\n
  8. Click OK<\/strong><\/li>\n
  9. Restart your computer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you choose to delete a version from the Boot<\/em> tab of msconfig<\/code>, that Windows version won’t be deleted, but it won’t be displayed on the Windows Boot Manager screen.<\/p>\n

    Fix #2: Use EasyBCD<\/h2>\n

    Using EasyBCD, you can easily remove this bug. Just follow these steps.<\/p>\n

    1. Click the EasyBCD icon on the desktop.<\/li>\n
    2. Go to the “Edit Boot Menu” tab. (With the wrench and screwdriver)<\/li>\n
    3. Click on the previous version (See below)<\/em><\/li>\n
    4. Click “Delete” (With the X in a octagon)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
