Easybcd not able to write the bcd since "bcd store cannot be opened"

Is this accompanied by a dialogue asking you to point to the BCD, or is it implying that the BCD is corrupted in some way ?

Hello.
It says the BCD cannot be opened. I am not sure what is being implied. What sort of thing would keep easybcd from opening the bcdstore?

That dialog implies that EasyBCD cannot find the BCD where it would normally be and it's inviting you to tell it where to look.
That suggests that your boot drive is not Disk 0.
Post a screenshot of your Disk Management and I'll check for you.

You were correct the BCD was not locked.
I have Win 10, 7 and XP.
While in Macrium PE I used the "Fix Windows Boot Problems".
It saw all 3 versions and loaded the bootloader for the earliest version (Win XP).
Of course, Easybcd does not work on XP so the BCD could not be modified.

Thanks for the consideration and mark this inquiry closed.
