I upgraded a laptop to windows 10. First off it had vista, when I got it, it was already upgraded to windows 8 before I upgraded it to windows 10. Now Im having issues and i am told I need to update the Bios but, will have to roll it back to vista before doing so... How do I do this when recovery will not let me do it. The laptop is an old (HP Pavilion dv6747cl) I really need to know how to get it back to Vista. Please Help.....

That's strange that you should have to roll back to Vista for a BIOS update, however it may be because Windows 8 is no longer supported. (Windows 8.1 is as far as upgrading to W10). You can't upgrade from Vista straight into W10, you'd need to upgrade it as far as Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1.
In any case I would take the advice of the manufacturer of the computer.
