Hey everbody,

This is probably a stupid question to you guys, but are Microsoft Office(word, excel, powerp ex.) software compatible with the Ubuntu Linux OS?

The software themselves are not compatible, but you can open the files you saved with Microsoft Office on Ubuntu (using OpenOffice). And files saved with OpenOffice on Ubuntu can be opened with MS Office on Windows machines.

Cheers!

No, not yet.

They've recently been accepted as an ISO standard, so give it a couple of months and the new *x files will be openable on Linux.

I know that in my Ubuntu Install with OO they have a plug in you can download and install for use with .docx files.
