I recently purchased EasyRE Professional for Windows 7 and tried to make a bootable USB using EZ USB Creator on a freshly formatted 2GB USB stick (FAT32). I pointed the tool to the ISO and selected the USB drive, but when I clicked “Go”, I got this error:
Error creating bootable USB!
Unable to mark drive as active partition. Please manually make the drive active and try again.
After some digging, I realized that most USB flash drives are treated as removable media in Windows and can't be set as “active” using normal means. So here’s how I worked around it:
