How do I map Excel columns to vCard fields?

My Excel contact sheet has separate columns for first name, last name, mobile number, email, company, designation, and address. I want these fields to appear correctly in the resulting VCF files. Is there a way to map the Excel columns to the appropriate vCard fields before conversion? Has anyone used the field-mapping feature in SysTools Excel to vCard Converter?

Mapping Excel columns to vCard fields means matching each column in your spreadsheet with the correct contact detail in a VCF file. For example, First Name maps to First Name, Email Address to Email, Mobile Number to Mobile Phone and Company to Organization.

You can map these fields manually, but with hundreds of contacts, checking each column and fixing mismatched details can take time. A wrong mapping may also cause phone numbers or company names to appear in the wrong fields when you import the contacts.

A simpler way to map contact fields
If you're converting a large Excel contact list, Softaken Excel to vCard Converter provides a field-mapping option to match spreadsheet columns with the appropriate vCard fields before conversion. This helps reduce manual corrections when preparing contacts for phones or applications that support VCF files.
It is also better to make sure your Excel files are structured for accurate mapping.

A few things to check before importing:
  • Match mobile and work numbers to the correct fields.
  • Check that first and last names are mapped separately.
  • Confirm email addresses and company names appear correctly.
  • Test a few converted contacts before importing the complete list.
This way, you can catch mapping errors early instead of correcting contact details one by one after import.
