Not the word i have had for it trying to get it to dual boot!!!

All in all its cost me around £1000 with the monitor.

Oh and £100 for an oem copy of XP Pro

I've been saving up for my next machine, $1000 (without the monitor, case, or dvd burners which will come from the old machine).... But you're right, it's worthless if it doesn't do what it's supposed to :lol:
 
it is a good machine and i get pretty much 5.9 on widows experience for everything except the graphics card where i only get 5.2 and 4.7 but the others i get 5.9

Its very fast though.

I just cant get it to flipping let me boot vista and or XP :frowning:

i have just now gotten up to One whoel Gb of memory and such

ive never had a great graphics card, and my processor has now droped from dual-core AMD, to single core-celeron :frowning: boo lol

but i havent had any issues with ubuntu and so yeah lol

I am completly stupid when it comes to computers, What I know about a computer i can put on the back of a stamp and still have room for my life history!!!

Your machine sounds good Kahai, and it works which is more than mine at the moment (apart from vista, which is working) LOL
 
If you don't mind my asking: what do you need XP for anyway?

I don't like Vista much myself and dual-boot with XP, but not for compatibility reasons... To be totally frank, after disabling the annoying User Account Control (UAC) on Vista, I didn't have any programs that required Windows XP to run, games and system utilities included.

i will now only be using my vista for school, ie websites that only let Internet Explorer work :frowning:

ahh... the only program i have had issues with is the Farcry game idk why lol

but for things that dont work at first, on there icons go into properties and change their compatibility to something older lol

I think i am quite used to XP, i like the way it works.

Im sure vista is great too, but i cant get my head around it. I guess if i have xp i can get the things done quick that im used to doing then spend spare time getting to know vista before i swop over to vista.At the moment, I cant do much as i only have vista going and its driving me batty!

Yep, it's free.

They have an "ultimate" version called VMware Workstation which isn't, but it doesn't feature anything you especially need. It's aimed at software developers looking for every last bit of extra (otherwise useless) features available :smile:

Addendum:

Well, if you don't like Vista you can always just install XP and completely forget you ever had Vista installed.... No one says that you have to run it :tongueout:

I believe you can use it for 30 days without a code, so you don't need to wait for that email to arrive.

Yep, it's pretty straight-forward. It'll ask you a couple of (easy) questions, and do the rest by itself.
