Windows 7 : Drive Name?

i have a Seagate external drive used as backup; assigned to Drive I:; when I would boot up, that drive was always correct; yesterday, I replaced my printer (USB connection); now, the Seagate shows is as Drive K: and when I go to Disk Management to Change, Drive I: does not show as an option; if I reboot and immediately go to Change Drive, I: will be there.

What's the problem; how can I assure that the Seagate is always identified as I: ??

Thank you, appreciated!

Plug in your printer and assign it another letter (P might be appropriate)
Windows will assign letters dynamically for all devices which aren't specifically user defined to a particular letter. (that creates a registry entry which is used before dynamic allocation starts)
It's a good idea when setting up a new PC to plug in each device which will possibly be connected at some time and assign it a letter of your choice ( I use mnemonics like O for Olympus Camera etc).
If they're all mentioned in the registry, that's the letter they'll always get when you connect them. Otherwise new connections just get the first unused letter available.
