32-bit Win7 recovery disc not working

I need to use the repair function of the recovery disc and it isn't working. It boots fine...it has the loading screen then all I have after it has loaded is a black screen and my mouse cursor....

Can anyone help?

Windows recovery disks can be as fussy as the (non working) OS if they detect HDD problems trying to start.
