Another XP/Vista problem

Ok i've tried scouring the forums to see if my probelm has come up , and they have but i've tried the solutions, but i've probably have been goin round in circles.

My current config
according to "Disk Managment"
My IDE is disk 0 -> no O/S
My SATA 400gb is Disk1 ->XP on 1st partition of 2
My SATA 500gb is Disk2 ->Vista on 1st partition of 2

when i boot into the vista bootloader and select "Microsoft Windows" it goes into another boot menu asking for either "Wnidows XP Pro" or "Windows (defualt)"
The XP Pro leads to a notice on check hardware config and blah blah
The Other (default) leads to a blank screen.

I've copied the ntldr and ntdetect to both xp and vista partitions
the xp boot.ini is as follows
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

and the Vista boot.ini is
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

I know the xp can boot properly cause when i do the CMOS boot to which hdd it all goes well.

Any input will be gratefully appreciated.
Been struggeling with this for soooo long and i'm at my wits end

Thank you
Mario

You have a conflict in your boot.ini.
the default is rdisk(0)partition(1) and the real entry is rdisk(1)partition(2). You need to resolve this to make it work.

Ok i set them both to
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

and all i got was a blank screen

then i tried changing it two
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

after seeing the convo with another problem but then it says i'm missing a system32 file, any ideas?

A blank screen means that NTLDR is missing.

Addendum:

Sorry, I meant NTDETECT.

Addendum:
