Audio Problem...

hi i used to have both windows xp and vista before installing windows 7 yesterday but never had this problem before. any sound that my computer makes (music, beeps, msn alerts etc are grainy. even though they are audible they are disconcerting to say the least as i can hear interruptions and fluctuations with every sound.

what is the cause and how can i solve this? any help appreciated.

Sounds like you've got a generic W7 sound driver.
Try reinstalling the one from the CD that came with your mobo/sound card, or the OEM website.

wow!! it sorted itself out. i went to the OEM website and downloaded the drivers, the driver executable removed the previous version first and asked me to restart. after restart, everything works!!

Thanks for your help again, and i know where il turn to next time!
 
Audio Problem

Thanks for that - I will get it professionally cleaned at an authorised Sony repairer.

After I used the head cleaner the problem went away for a short time, but has since returned.
