Hi,
I need Your Help for doing the following :

On HDD1 WinXP is installed on C:
On HDD2 Win7 is installed on G:

***************************************View settings :
There are a total of 2 entries listed in the bootloader.

Default: Windows 7 Home Premium
Timeout: 6 seconds
EasyBCD Boot Device: G:\

Entry #1
Name: Windows 7 Home Premium
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: G:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Entry #2
Name: Microsoft Windows XP
BCD ID: {74505f0b-c877-11de-8606-8575dd300d92}
Drive: G:\
Bootloader Path: \NST\ntldr
****************************************End of View setting
I want to "kill" WinXP on HDD1 and boot only from the 2nd HDD (G:smile:
Please help me, what's exactly to do

Thank You so much -
and with regards : Martin

Boot W7, run Disk Management and check which partition is flagged as "system".
As long as it is not XP, you can right click it and select "format" or "delete volume" then do what you will with the space created.
If XP is "system", then you must first follow the instructions here
Changing the Boot Partition - EasyBCD - NeoSmart Technologies Wiki
and pointing to the W7 partition when asked.
Make sure that the BIOS is set to boot from the W7 HDD before the XP, then reboot W7 and check the status of "system" again.

Answer

Hi,
and Thanks for Your answer.
OK, I tried "it" first with my laptop.
1.See the View-Setting" before "Change bootdrive" :

There are a total of 2 entries listed in the bootloader.

Default: Windows 7
Timeout: 30 seconds
EasyBCD Boot Device: C:\

Entry #1
Name: Frühere Windows-Version
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \ntldr

Entry #2
Name: Windows 7
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: E:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

2. Then I changed the driveletter to E:

There are a total of 2 entries listed in the bootloader.
Path: E:\BOOT\BCD

Default: Windows 7
Timeout: 30 seconds
EasyBCD Boot Device: E:\

Entry #1
Name: Frühere Windows-Version
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \ntldr

Entry #2
Name: Windows 7
BCD ID: {default}
Drive: E:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
3.After ending with Easybcd I took a View to the settings : and there are NO changes made (just I saw the same in Step 1 !!) - Please, what did I wrong ??
Or is as a last step the "re-create/repair boot files" to do??
Hoping for Your answer : with regards : Martin

Addendum:

Hi Terry,
maybe that's the explanation : After I've changed the Bootdrive to E: the setttings are made correctly. After ending Easybcd und starting Easybcd again, Easybcd first look in C: and there are the "old" settings ?????
And when I look in the Partition-Manager (Win7), I'll see that E: is now the System- and Starting-Partition and Primary Partition (the Primary Partition is still C).
Is that right thinking ???

Thank You for answering - and regards : Martin

In German, W7 should now be
Startpartition
Systempartition
Aktiv
Primäre Partition

and XP can be Primäre too (that just means it has an entry in the MBR partition table)
If so, go ahead and format the XP partition, and use EasyBCD to delete the XP entry from the BCD (Edit Boot Menu)

Hi Terry,
thank You for Your answer : I did it, and it's OK !
With regards - and the best wishes for the next New Year !
