BCD with HP laptop restore boot loader

BCD will allow the creation of an additional entry in the setup, once saved the entry does not appear.

Could the HP MBR loader be the cause?

Hi Michael, welcome to NST.
Are you using the "save" button, in the top "manage existing entries" box, instead of the "add entry" button in the bottom "add an entry" box ?

yes, 1st add then save; reboot goes straight to Vista.

No, you don't need to touch "save" at all, that's for the modifications to existing entries.
Just the "add" button at the bottom of the screen.

Make sure your timeout's not at 0 as well. Otherwise, you won't see the menu.
