Installed $40 Windows 8 Professional x64 Upgrade on my XP Pro x32 backup computer. No problems with clean install nor reinstall of all my applications that I still use.

After a couple of days use, read above and installed free Classic Shell http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/ . My Windows 8 now has a Start button and skips Metro!!!
