We mainly run Windows but we also use LTSP Ubuntu, or at least we currently do but we might not be able to do so for much longer.
With the rapidly approaching end of support of Windows 10, we are moving to Windows 11 which means secureboot will (has to be) enabled so we can no longer use grub4dos to boot LTSP via the Windows bootmanager like we do currently. Unfortunately we have to use Windows bootmanager as the main bootloader and we can't switch to GRUB or refind.
Does anyone know a way of booting grub2 or any other Linux bootloader from the Windows 11 bootmanager when secureboot is enabled?
The only potential option I can see for configuring this using EasyBCD would be using its support for booting VHD files, maybe, but for this to work I think the .VHD file might have to be using ext4 or another grub2/Linux friendly filesystem? Might EasyBCD be able to boot a Linux formatted VHD or would I have to use FAT32, exfat or NTFS? I'm hoping I might be able to install a signed version of grub2 and its config file into a .vhd file creating using virtualbox.
I wrote to the author of the refind bootloader and he seems to think this should be possible but like me he doesn't know much about Windows or the Windows bootmanager which is why I'm asking here.
Thanks for your help!
