Crash in .NET 2.0

#1
Running Windows XP SP3, I've tried both the current release of EasyBCD and the beta (build 63). Both fail with a crash in .NET 2.0. .NET is installed up to the latest 3.5 SP.

I'd like to be able to run EasyBCD under both Windows XP and Windows 7.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Ok, in the error report it says you've got 1.7.x. Get EasyBCD 2.0 b.63 from [thread=642]here[/thread]. Are you getting the same error now?

P.S., a few days ago, I tried uninstalling all versions of .NET and re-installing. That did not change the failure.

Ok, go to c:\program files\neosmart technologies\easybcd\bin. There should be 6 exes there that EasyBCD depends on, they are:

bcdedit.exe
bootgrabber.exe
bootpart.exe
bootsect.exe
NST Downloader.exe

Are those files present? Now go to: c:\users\username\appdata\local\neosmart_technologies. Delete all of the files/folders in this directory than try running EasyBCD again.

The files are present. However, I am running on Windows XP SP3 and so do not have a \users directory tree on my c: drive. There is a \users on my L: drive, which becomes C: when I boot Windows 7. I could not find a neosmart_technologies directory anywhere within the c:\documents and Settings\[username] tree.

Documents and Settings is the XP name for Users dir. In XP it would be:
c:\documents and settings\username\application data\local\neosmart_technologies

What about c:\Users\username\application data\local\neosmart_technologies

Where "username" is replaced with your account name?

Nope, I can't find a neosmart_technologies directory anywhere. There's no \user directory in XP and I've searched through c:\documents and settings and cannot find any trace of EasyBCD's directory.

fwiw, I booted to Win 7 and installed EasyBCD beta there; it worked fine. It just doesn't work in XP Pro.

Ok, so you can't find these dirs. Have you enabled viewing of hidden files/folders on the view tab in Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options?

#15
Yes, that's almost the first thing I do when I install a new OS.

Besides looking in the likely directories, I've run two different scan/file indexing programs on my C: drive under XP and the only folders or files with "neosmart" as part of the name are in c:\program files\Neosmart Technologies.
