entry settings as shown by EasyBCD as follows:

Default: Windows 7

Timeout: Skipped

Boot Drive: C:\

Entry #1

Name: Windows 7

BCD ID: {current}

Drive: C:\

Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Entry #2

Name: Microsoft Windows XP

BCD ID: {0f9fb446-5397-11e1-8681-bcee90ba557d}

Drive: F:\

Bootloader Path: \NST\easyldr1

Windows 7 set as default

Anyone have a suggestion on how to proceed?

Dell PC ?
The idiocy of not allowing a re-ordering of the HDD boot order, can be circumvented by simply swapping the HDD data cables between the two drives, either at the HDD end or the mobo end, whichever is more convenient.
Thus the BIOS continues to boot from what it thinks is the enforced drive whilst actually being directed to the other.

Thank you Terry for your response,Yes this is a Dell Precision 490, however I cannot switch cables as the Drive (0) is a 7 pin sata connector and the DVD drive uses a what appears to be a be 40 pin ribbon.
