Dual boot Win Vista - Linux Mint goes wrong

Hi there,

I installed Linux Mint as second boot next to Windows Vista. Then I used EasyBCD to edit the MBR to get rid of the extra screen I have to deal with when booting into Linux Mint 9 Isadora. To accomplish this I used the official neosmart guide for an Ubuntu 10.04 installation since Linux Mint 9 Isadora is built on Ubuntu 10.04 see : http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Ubuntu
Well, this ruins my dual boot. I can't access my Linux Mint anymore since doing this. Vista I can still use.
What I like to ask is not how to fix getting back into Linux Mint, because I allready found out how to get back to the old state. What I like to know is : Did I use the right guide ?!
'Cause either the guide is wrong or dated, or I'm not doing this simple thing the right way.
