Dual Boot with HP Notebook

Hi I've been reading these forums for the past few days trying to solve my problem and I have not been able to figure it out.

I have a HP Pavilion dv9548ca with Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit. And I have been having trouble installing XP onto a separate partition. I understand the whole concept of using EasyBCD for dual boots I just can't install another OS to do it with.

From my understanding I need to disable the SATA option in my Bios, but HP does not include this option so I'm stuck there.

Any insight into my problem is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Aleyna

Hi Aleyna, welcome to NST.

You need to add support for your SATA disk to the Windows XP installation CD.

You can do this by downloading the SATA drivers for Windows XP for your laptop, then using (the free) nLite to add the drivers to the XP installation CD. Then you just have to burn the CD and install.

nLite: nLite - Deployment Tool for the bootable Unattended Windows installation

Thanks for the reply it seem so easy now. Only problem is I don't know where to get the SATA drivers.

I've been looking on the Intel website to try and find a SATA driver for:

1.66 GHz Intel® Centrino® Duo processor technology featuring Intel® Core ™ 2 Duo processor T5450

but I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place.

Go to HP's support site and find your model. Should have all the drivers there.
