Easy Recovery essentials system restore isn't helping

I am running windows 7 on a three-year old Gateway LX6810-01 and my computer was endlessly trying to reboot and just kept recycling. I bought the Easy Recovery Essentials program and it worked...for a while. Occasionally my computer would fail to boot up and I would run the system restore function and everything would be OK. Until now. System restore only gives one restore point and that isn't working . I tried automatic repair and it says it worked but when the Windows screen comes up it freezes then starts the boot up cycle again. Any ideas how to proceed from here?
