EasyBCD won't add windows xp.

Ok, to start off with easybcd cannot detect the partition with windows 7 boot file, this section exists because of bit locker software, i guess. I was able to mount the partition and then show the files. From there all i had to do is find them for easybcd. I can do that.

This is the really strange part is that i cannot add windows xp which is on another hard drive, lets say HD Z:. I have used both automatic and manual setting for easybcd to find the windows xp entry. When i select HD Z: it wont add as xp but will add as win7 or 95 .... WHAT??? I really am stumped here.

If you know why i cant add the entry i would be glad to know.

I get a 'failed to add entry!' window that says 'EasyBCD failed to detect a valid installation of windows nt-2003 on all mounted drives and was unable to continue.

Since then, I have tried to download a different bootloader.exe and i do have WINDOWS folder.

Addendum:

would xp being sp2 instead of sp3 make a difference?

Your problem is that Windows thinks you are booting from Disk 1 (which has no partitions recognized by Windows). In the BIOS you'll need to configure it to boot from Disk 0 instead.

THankz

Yo, thanks so much. I came home for lunch and got this running in about 1 min. Lol, thz.

Addendum:

The program worked, but it still wont boot off the boot loader:

error is like boot.ini from c:/windows

I will do debugging later tonight.

Addendum:

The error message i am receiving is 'Iinvalid boot.ini file, booting from c:/windows ntdetect failed.'

It does work if i have windows 7 selected as HD 0 in the bios, but i would like to boot grub to window boot loader to xp or 7.

In addition, booting grub first, win 7 boots fine.

Addendum:

SOLVED:

sudo update-grub

found xp works. WOOOOOO!!1
