Windows 7 installed on internal laptop drive. Vista on eSata drive. Downloaded easyBCD added eSATA drive to boot menu. When I try to boot to eSATA drive (
vista) it returns to Windows 7 on internal drive and boots to that.
How do I get eSATA drive to boot?
Vista will not boot on a machine that it was not installed on, nor from a drive that is not connected as it was when installed. And Vista cannot be installed to an external drive.
With Windows Vista, Microsoft purposely added code to prevent Windows Vista (and now 7) from being being booted off of a removable disk. This includes USB, Firewire, and eSATA.
