Hard drive is failing

Hello all,

My brother recently purchased a HP that came with Vista, but no Vista DVD. The problem is the current HD is failing and we need to install the OS to a new one. How can I achieve that without the Vista disk?

There should be a recovery partition which you can use to burn a DVD. Check the HP site or contact HP Support for directions on how to do this.

We would give you specifics but sadly each vendor/manufacturer is different and each process is different. Being as such we don't know every way to accomplish this.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply.
I walked him through it again this morning. We're in diff states so was trying to walk him through if just based of his discription and it so happened that he just wasn't following instrustions too well last night. It has been recovered and is up and running.
