[HELP] EasyBCD unable to boot after installing Norton Ghost

Hello, I have been using EasyBCD for multi-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu and I am so happy about this product :smile:

And earlier today, I decided to do some backup so I installed Norton Ghost 15.

After Installation was completed, computer restarted, then the Norton Live update poped up.

I clicked Ok and update began. On completion, restarted was required.

During the restart, I was not able to see the Windows Boot Manager as usual, rather, this screen was shown: (please see this photograph below)

I had gone through hours of googling:
  1. I clicked repair with Windows 7 boot CD, restarted, it didnt work.
  2. I accessed command prompt through Windows 7 boot CD, /fixed boot, /fixed mbr, and /rebult bcd, restarted but still didnt work
  3. Tried to create new boot entry, restarted, also didnt work
So I gave up fixing it and decided to ask for more help. And now Im running in a freshly new installed Windows 7 in another HDD in a new partition. HDD was pluged into the first slot (Master 1) on the motherboard.

I can also access to my original master HDD with my old Windows 7 and EasyBCD in it. I need my old Windows 7 back, how to fix this? im guessing restoring the very original windows 7 boot manager? please help!
 
Boot from the W7 DVD, select "system restore" instead of "startup repair".
Select a point before Norton wrecked your system and back it out.

but unfortunately the W7 DVD was not able to detect any restore point :frowning:

is there anything i can do in the drive such as deleting or modifing some files that can revive my old original OS?
 
Can you find a \boot folder with the BCD inside on your old W7 ? (set folder options like this to see it)
If so, use EasyBCD > File > Select BCD store to look at it, and paste the contents of View settings (detailed mode) here.
 
Yes I can. There were 2 'boot' folders, one visible and one hidden, and both have the BCD file with the same hash. Here's one of them:

i had a quick look at it and it seems to be different to what i had before, im surpriced...
so i attached this, this is my configuration before installing Norton Ghost:

Note: the drive name are changed as i rearranged the HDD order by changing the plugs in the motherboard

Addendum:

Status update:

As I installed EasyBCD in the new W7, set up a new boot menu in side the new W7 that includes all other old OS. Everything worked fine now. But I have to rely on the new W7 in order to boot the old W7.

There can't be two E:\boot folders (ignore anything you find nested inside E:\Windows\...\. That's not active, just what's used to setup the real one in the root during the install).
If you can now boot into the old W7 from the new one, while you're in there, use EasyBCD > BCD Backup/Repair > "Change boot drive" and point it back to the original drive, then switch the BIOS to boot from the old HDD again.
