help please!!

my girlfriends sister has a toshiba equium laptop with windows vista premium, however after getting a virus that she could not shift she used the product recovery disk to try and reboot the computer, which having wiped all the files has left the computer in a right state. The product recovery disk crashes half way with a java fault and the a black screen appears with

file: \windows\system32\winload.exe

status: 0xc000000e

info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

Any help on this matter would be much apreciated.

Hi riffking, welcome to NST.

You'll probably need to format the hard drive completely with a partition manager (GParted: GParted -- Live CD/USB/PXE/HD ) then attempt to run the recovery software once more.

thanks for the info, just one question will it boot without actually being able to get into windows because at the moment i cant get into vista at all on the laptop it just boots straight to the windows boot manager screen?

Yep. You'll need to download the GParted ISO file on a PC with a CD burner, burn the image to a CD, then you can boot from it on your borked system.
