SO i recently got an HP envy 14, first thing that showed up was windows failed to run and could be caused by hardware or software change. So i downloaded your windows 7 recovery disk and ran it. It seemed like it worked when it forced an HP installation window to open and start installing all the software. Windows 7 home page even opened. Then it went into a VISTA PE loader thing with 2 cmd windows and started spewing random stuff. Ive been letting the cmd window run slowly. Nothing has happened and it seems like my computer has reverted to windows vista, wtf is going on.

Our disk well NOT upgrade, install, uninstall Windows whatsoever. It only fixes a broken installation. If its doing what you described above you must have got the disc elsewhere. Heres the instructions you need to follow:
