I have an old MBOX mailbox containing a large number of emails, and I need to extract the messages into EML format. The reason for choosing EML is that individual messages can be stored and accessed separately, which makes them easier to organize, share, or move between compatible email applications.
The main concern is preserving the original email information during the conversion. Some of the messages contain attachments, HTML formatting, sender and recipient details, timestamps, and other headers. Losing attachments or changing the message structure during conversion would make the exported files less useful.
Another difficulty is the size of the mailbox. My MBOX file contains a significant number of messages, so manually opening emails and saving them individually would take a considerable amount of time. A conversion utility that can process the mailbox directly would be more practical.
I would also prefer to preview the mailbox before exporting everything. This makes it easier to confirm that the correct MBOX file has been selected and that the expected folders and messages are available. If multiple MBOX files are involved, being able to process them without repeatedly opening the original email client would also be helpful.
